DEVELON, standing for “Develop Onwards”, have lived up to their name with new technological systems in safety and fleet management being awarded at CES 2024 for ‘Advanced Mobility’ and ‘Mobile Accessories’ for their Smart Collision Mitigation (SCM) and X-Agent systems respectively. We take a deeper look into these technologies and how this plays out on the worksite to make operations better and safer in the future.

X-Agent Fleet Control

DEVELON’s fleet control system named X-Agent is a solution for the improvement of equipment productivity across excavators, wheel loaders, & articulated dump trucks. Using AI, the X-Agent system analyses information from drivers, equipment and workplans to create optimal task routes. This is especially important for new operators who can see productivity improvements of approximately 30%. These systems are robust and able to transmit and receive data even in 2G or 3G connected environments meaning no matter where you are a level of information can be reported back to the X-Agent system for smoother control.

Smart Collision Mitigation (SCM)

The intelligent collision system developed by DEVELON has been honored at CES for its active safety system which detects objects or individuals around the machine with cameras and sensors. Excavators are fitted with four or more 360-degree cameras that utilize AI technology to detect potential collisions on the worksite.

When objects or individuals enter danger zones there are audible and mechanical triggers that will notify the operator and reduce the speed of the machine before automatically stopping when in the immediate danger range. This technology can help reduce workplace injuries caused by operators. In the years between 2015 and 2020 there were 98 incidents involving excavators alone as reported by OSHA (click here) which can be reduced using the SCM technology in machines, especially within the 48% caused through being struck by equipment.
